Lameness examination

The orthopaedic lameness examination is carried out in our practice with a lot of time and patience for the animal and the owner. A detailed anamnesis with the owner forms the cornerstone, allowing the vet to get a first impression of the patient's behaviour and appearance and gather all the necessary information. A gait analysis is then carried out and a detailed clinical examination concludes the lameness examination.

The animals are examined standing up and, if possible, depending on the patient, also lying down on an orthopaedic mat on the floor. This creates an atmosphere that is as relaxed and stress-free as possible for the animal. If necessary for the diagnosis, the orthopaedic examination is followed by a neurological examination.

During the examination, the problem is usually localised to one or more joints, bones or muscle regions, so that a diagnosis can be made directly and further targeted diagnostics can then be carried out using digital gait analysis, digital X-rays or ultrasound.
